Family Law

I have concentrated in the area of domestic relations since 1989 and have handled hundreds of domestic relations cases. I have taken cases to trial and had extensive experience in court. Given the exhorbitant cost of taking a divorce to trial and the emotional cost to you and your children, my goal is always to first attempt to negotiate a settlement and to help clients resolve their cases amicably and through settlement. This involves extensive discussions with my clients to determine their needs, address their emotional concerns and needs and identify the needs of their children. This also involves ongoing discussions with the attorney representing the other spouse. As your divorce attorney, I consider my role not only as a zealous advocate for my client, but I see myself as a counselor, problem solver and resource for information. I try and help my clients consider the future and the costs and benefits of their actions today and its effect on them and their children. If appropriate, I work with financial planners, accountants and therapists to help clients obtain specialized attention and information for my clients. I will negotiate on your behalf, provide you with the necessary information to make important decisions, refer you to appropriate resources when I cannot provide them, and if necessary, litigate on your behalf. I will also explore with you other appropriate alternatives for resolving your divorce such as collaborative law and mediation.

In addition to divorce, I have had extensive experience and provide representation in connection with the following areas of practice:

Areas of Family Law:

  • Divorce
  • Divorce Modification
  • Paternity
  • Child Custody
  • Relocation to another state or country
  • Parenting plans/visitation
  • Restraining orders
  • Child Support
  • Contempt actions
